Diabetes and Metformin

When I was in Belize for 2 weeks this month, I forgot to take my Metformin. Metformin is usually given to type 2 diabetics to help with regulation and insulin uptake. I take it because I’m insulin resistant, and it’s supposed to help regulate my blood sugars.

But, I actually felt better not taking it. My early morning blood sugars, known as “The Dawn Effect”, didn’t go through the roof like they usually do, and now that I’m back in the states, and still not taking it, my 4am blood sugars are still good.

Anyone have any idea why I was getting high morning blood sugars on Metformin?
