Is it dropping to 14-18, which means you're dead, or is it going up, which is what happens to most diabetics?

What does levels of 14-18 mean? What scale are you using?

I had to stop diet coke last year, because at the age of 43 I was showing early stages of dementia. Aspartame and other fake sweeteners turn into alcohol sugars in your brain and give you brain damage, just like you're an alcoholic. Over the last 6 months, I've increased my mental acuity by taking Piracetam, which is a Nootropic drug and works wonders. I'm getting my creativity back, and I'm not "losing words" like I was. For awhile I couldn't even have a conversation because I couldn't get the words out of my brain that I needed to say. I could see the words, and I knew what they were, sort of, but I couldn't pull them out and say them. Man it sucked!

Cheapest place to get Piracetam is BodyBuilding.com for $19.95 for a 500g tub, instead of $39.95 at Amazon.

BTW, great site. I think you've done a lot of work here and I really appreciate you sharing your info with others. I too am a little fed up with the medical community. I know they are very helpful in many ways, however, it's almost as if they don't really "get it" when it comes to keeping people healthy and finding the root of illness. Instead they tell you "eat what you want and cover it with insulin"....they told us that diet coke was okay for our daughter after her initial diagnosis and lo and behold, it's the main thing that spikes her sugars thru the roof. Must be all that nice aspartame that tricks the body into thinking it's ingested sugar...oh and the neurotoxins contained therein....real healthy, huh? It's crazy. Anyway, just wanted to give kudos for all the work you've done here. Keep up the good work and keep your chin up. Hoping to see miracles one day:)

My daughter (12 years old) is a type 1 diabetic and has been off of insulin and maintaining her BG levels for 34 days now. She eats a very healthy, organic diet consisting of carbs, protiens and healthy fats. No processed foods, no high fructose corn syrup, lots of nuts, veggies, fruits and lean meats...almond milk, coconut milk, dark chocolate, stevia, cinnamon, agave nectar and enzymes and cayenne for digestion. She is doing fabulous. And no, she was not misdiagnosed. The doctors had to wean her off bc she was going so low on the insulin and responded so well to the diet. Maybe this is a rare case, but we've blogged about it at www.t1ontherun.com. So far so good. Just wanted to share because everyone is different and I do want to stress that we weaned off with consent of her physicians. Best of luck to you.

Do you know what the difference between Humalog and Apidra is? There must be some molecular difference....

I'll try it.

Thanks

I became resistant to Humalog within 3 months of becoming resistant to NPH. If Lantus works well for you, you may want to try Apidra, which is the fast acting version made by the same company. My insulin intake was reduced by 35% within 3 days of switching.

Cheers!

I have run into this problem before as well...my current 'workaround' for it is to have the Dr. increase the amount of insulin per day listed on the prescription. This results in 1 more bottle being delivered than I use in 90 days. This overlap allows for 3 week appointment scheduling with the Dr.
I have also had my primary care physician write me a prescription for insulin, so that when there are scheduling issues with my endocrine Dr. I have another back up.

I have had Dr's in the past refuse to refill the script without an office visit, and the problem was easily solved by reporting them to the AMA and then getting a new Dr. Denying a type 1 diabetic insulin is the same as denying treatment at an ER....a big no no.

Good luck!
